Happy Birthday America

I heard this rendition of the Pledge to the American Flag this week and I thought you might want to read it.

I(me, and individual, a committee of one) pledge(dedicate my worldly good to give without self pity) allegiance(my love and my devotion) to the flag(our standard, Old Glory, a symbol of freedom where ever she waves, there's respect because your loyalty has given her dignity that shouts "Freedom is everybody's job") of the United(we have all come together) States(individual communities that have united into 50 great states with purpose. All divided with imaginary boundaries, yet united to a common cause: the love of country) of America, and to the Republic(a state in which sovereign power is invested in representatives chosen by the people to govern. Government is the people, it is from the people to the leaders not the leaders to the people) for which it stands, one nation(so blessed by God) under God, indivisible(incapable of being divided), with liberty(which is freedom and the right of power to live one's life without threats, fear, or retaliation), and justice(the principle and quality of dealing fairly with others) FOR ALL

Have a happy birthday celebration as we celebrate our freedom and our nation.

Jody, I think your card is great.
The Pledge of Allegiance - I love it.
What you wrote on your blog this morning was recited by Red Skelton - comedian actor 'back in the day' as my 17 year old likes to say. His teacher Mr. Laswell, saw that the children weren't appreciating the pledge as it was meant to be, for all that it stood for. . .
I work in an inner city school where we Pledge of allegiance to . . . and 'Publix' for which it stands. How sad is that? Even sadder, the flag doesn't always get raised, I have had to ask for it. We actually have two flag poles, supposedly one is broken and the other, well...
