Photo Background

Using a Photo as Your Background
At Heart 2 Heart this week the challenge is to add a photo to a project.
I used a photo for the background of my scrapbook pages.
Our summer at the beach gave us some great boogie board photos as
Ashley and Zachary practiced catching the waves.
Ashley on her boogie board waiting to catch a wave.
Zachary is catching his wave with much joy
.
Directions for using a photo as a background: Choose a photo the has the subject in the corner (Ashley's page) or off to the the side (Zachary's page). Crop your photo square and print in grey scale on 12 X 12 White Daisy or Colonial White cardstock. Use the "triple play" concept in Reflections to add your photos. Add journaling on the page after the background photo is printed on the 12 X 12.
Now it's your turn to show us how you like to add a photo to your project at Heart 2 Heart.

A New Color Dare

The Color Dare:
Smokey Plum, Petal, Amethyst

There's a brand new Color Dare Blog to get your color juices going.  I'm trying out this dare with a new
one-step stamping technique with an old inking technique. View the One-Step stamping concept HERE and the old Puddle Pad technique HERE. I used the butterfly card from the Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge on page 55 in the cricut booklet. The puddle pad is inked with Smokey Plum, Petal, and Amethyst re-inkers. I also used the butterfly stamp inked on the puddle pad to stamp the cut out butterflies.
Then I added the cut out butterflies to the card along with some sparkles.
Come play with us at Color My Heart Color Dare this week.

Quick Card Distressing

The distressing challenge at Heart 2 Heart brings out the distressing tools: Sponges for inking, scissors for edge scraping, edge distresser, Spray Pen for scrunching, and those amazing texture tools.

I used the Quick Card-Butterfly for my distressing project. The edges of all the pieces are edged with Desert Sand ink to give it a vintage look. The sentiment has torn edges all around and inked with the Desert Sand. The torn edges are rolled for added distressing.  The edges of the colonial white mat are scissor distressed and inked with Desert Sand. The cut out butterfly is also scissor distressed and inked with Desert Sand. I used the spray pen with water to distress the seam binding ribbon to give it a vintage look.
Now grab your distressing tools and show us your amazing distressed project

A Hello Polka Dot Bug

Polka Dots and Strips
This week the Heart 2 Heart challenge is to create using polka dots and strips. For my project I wanted to go a little out of the box since my Dotty For You paper pack has been almost consumed.
I did have a small scrap of the yellow polka dots so I used it on this card.

So... for the polka dots: one lady bug, three paradise flowers, some cranberry cardstock dotted with my cuttlebug embossing folder, and some polka dot ribbon.
And...for the strips: eight stripped leaves and some stripped bakers twine.
Now it's your turn to share with us at Heart 2 Heart your ideas using polka dots and stripes.

My mom likes the vintage look with all the embellishments.
It was a little challenging to mail. I hope it gets there safely.
My daughter is the purple queen. Everything purple for her.

Stella is Tailor Made

Sew... Thank You

Being a seamstress I've been wanting to put together a card using Stella and the stamp set Tailor Made. With the B&T duos having some dress patterns in the print it "seamed" just right together. And...using the word "sew" for the word "so" also fits. Like "sew" happy, "sew" cute, "sew" sweet, and sew on and sew on.
Also, added some faux stitching just for fun.

B&T Duos: Stella
Cardstock: Cocoa, Colonial White
Stamps: Tailor Made
Ink: Cocoa, Lagoon, Tulip

Using Up Those Scraps

Use It or Lose It Challenge #7 is a wedding challenge. Using scraps for a wedding card can be a bit challenging.  So, I decided to use my Florentine scraps because it has hearts in the paper design.

I punched two hearts to symbolize the two getting married. Then I covered one heart with torn scraps to symbolize the two united into one heart. The sentiment is a two line customized stamp from Close to my Heart. I added a strip of Florentine just under the ribbon (also a scrap from my stash).
So let's see what you can do with you scraps and the wedding theme. Please share with us at Use it or Lose It.

CTMH Supplies:
B&T Duos: Florentine
Cardstock: Colonial White, White Daisy
Stamps: K9012 Customized 2 line stamp

Heart 2 Heart Celebrates May Flowers

Layered Rose
April showers bring May flowers. The Heart 2 Heart challenge this week is
to shower us with flowers of all kinds. And... when you visit the
H2H blog you will see lots of spring flowers.
For my flowers I made layered roses on the front of a tri-fold tag card.. Using the rose from Card Word Puzzle stamp it 4 times in the color of your choosing. Cut out the 4 layers from each rose. Sponge the edge of each rose section and layer together. You can use pop ups in between the layers to get a dimensional look.
Inside the tri-fold card.
To make the tri-fold card cut two tag cards using the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge.
Attach the two cards together to make the tri-fold card.
Decorate and embellish the inside.
Now it's your turn to show us your May flowers. Be sure to post them at Heart 2 Heart.
