July Art Class Goes Mojo

July Art Class

On the schedule today was to get ready for my July art Class when inspiration came as I made my daily run through my favorite blogs. I visited Karen's blog and Amy's blog and they both had made some gorgeous cards using the Mojo Monday sketches. I couldn't resist their inspiration, so I decided to give it a try on my project. This is my first Mojo Monday project. I'm sure I'll be back.
I used the sketch for the front of the wooden box that will hold
the note pad and coordinating pen. For more information about the

Retirement Time

Celebrating the next chapter of life for two special people.

My daughter asked me to make a retirement card for one of her co-workers. The theme was "The Next Chapter." The SOTM "Limited Edition" seemed to work for the ticket to admit one to the next chapter:Retirement.
This card was for a retiring county social worker.  He was very popular and really
did touch many lives. He will be missed.
These cards were made using the same pattern just used different papers and embellishments
to make one feminine and one masculine.

It's a Rainbow at Color Dare #5

Challenge:Create-your-own Rainbow based on the color wheel

Using 6 colors on one card can be a little challenging. Oh wait, I need to make a baby gift. I'll use those 6 colors to make a 6 X 6 Display Album for the new parents to display photos of the new little one each month.
Gathering up the rainbow supplies: First choose the colors: Tulip(from Stella B&T Duos), Sunset( from Dotty Duos), Honey(Pemberley Duos), Sweet Leaf(from Lucy Duos), Moonstruck(from Hero) and Gypsy(from retired duos Hooligans). Then gather embellishments in those colors: buttons, brads, ribbons, bakers twine, flowers. Make some stamped images in those colors: hearts, stars, tickets, animals. Put it all together randomly and you have a Rainbow Baby Gift.
 Hello there, we love you
 You're 2 Cute
 Admit one for a hug
 Just because happiness lives here
 Hello there, Baby
 Journal your thoughts
You're Special: Lots of Love (LOL)
 Note your happy thoughts
 More happy thoughts
 No Lion, You're special
 Cherish your sweet baby
All ends with a big heart of love

Color Dare #4

Triadic Colors
Triadic colors are 3 colors that are equal distances apart from one another on the color wheel. This week's Color Dare colors are Cranberry, Sunkiss Yellow and Sky Blue.

My inspiration trail: checking out the Hero section of the Idea Book I decided to use the stars that come with the Hero WOTG on page 49. Then I used the star on a stick idea on page 79 in the Idea Book. Then added the stars on a stick to a jar filled with Hershey's Kisses, wrapped a ribbon around the top and added a tag with bakers twine idea from page 107. Let your CTMH Idea Book be your inspiration.
Now grab your Cranberry, Sunkiss Yellow, and Sky and join the color dare at

Use It or Lose It Challenge # 9

Torn Layers

Using up scraps can be a challenge especially considering how fast they can accumulate. Sometimes when I'm cleaning up my mess I just tear one edge of the scraps and layer them onto a part of a card. This card is "Medallion" from Wishes. I left off the medallion to expose the torn layers. This can be done with any card pattern from Originals or Wishes. Grab your scraps and show us your creations at Use It or Lose It

Heart 2 Heart Color Challenge

What is black and white and red, blue, purple, yellow, green or orange all over?
This week's Heart 2 Heart Color Challenge! I'm actually a week behind so trying to catch up.
The challenge: get your black and white supplies plus ONE other color of your choice lined up to create!
My other choice to go with the Black & White is Twilight.
So my project has a vintage fork, a french fry box, and some tags to use on some special gifts.

When cleaning out some drawers, I found two vintage forks that belonged to my grandmother from the 1930's. Since I only had two forks I decided to use one to make a special stand to display some of my projects. I found the directions HERE. Now my otherwise hidden fork has turned into a useful family treasure with memories of a special treasured person. Be sure to visit Heart 2 Heart
and be inspired with the Black & White plus one color treats.

B&T Duos: Florentine
Cardstock: White Daisy, Black
Ink: Twilight, Black

Color Dare #3 Challenge Plus

Complimentary Colors
Lilac Mist    Taffy

Complimentary colors are two colors that sit directly opposite from one another on the color wheel. For this challenge the complimentary colors are Dutch Blue & Sorbet with an options of Lilac Mist & Taffy. So, as for me one of my favorite colors is Lilac Mist but....I really really don't care for Taffy at all. A while back I decided to use up all my 12 X 12 Taffy and now with the new packaging can't get any more. So...had to really dig for scraps for this project.

Bonus points this week: I know there is something in the Idea Book you have been wanting to try, but haven't gotten around to yet. Now's your chance. BONUS POINTS if you make a project inspired by something out of the current Idea Book!!!! As always, you must use some CTMH products, but if you use 100% current CTMH products, you get bonus points (they are helpful when I decide on the winners, but not absolutely necessary.)
Every time I cruise through the Idea Book I really wanted to try the project on page 18. This seemed like my chance to try since I only had a few scraps of Taffy. I also wanted to try the background texture on the 3 X 3 card on page 71. I used Lilac Mist tone on tone stamping for that piece. The Taffy piece is embossed with dotted swiss and sanded for texture.
Come and get inspired by this weekly challenge at Color My Heart. It is fun, fun, fun. You won't want to miss.
CTMH Supplies:
Cardstock: Lilac Mist, Taffy
Ink: Lilac Mist, Taffy, Black(second generation)
Stamps: Spring Up, Just for You
Embellishments: Sparkle Flourishes, Pewter Badge Buttons

Puddle Pad Art

Just Can't Help It
When you make a puddle pad you can't just stamp one thing. When I made the puddle pad for the Color Dare #2 with Lagoon, Pear, Topiary  I just had to keep going with the Butterfly from the Quick Card Stamp. I added Moonstruck by rocking and rolling the image in Moonstruck ink pad.

31/2  X 31/2  card box holds four  3 X 3 cards with envelopes. To make the box cut the box on page 21 of the Art Philosophy Cricut booklet 81/2."  Fold down the top side and adhere to the inside of the box. Secure the sides and bottom with the tabs and fold into the center. Wrap the box with a
belly band and ribbon. Add your art to the front with pop ups.
Fill with your favorite 3 X 3 cards.
Four cards made with the colors Moonstruck, Lagoon, Pear, and Topiary
from Color Dare#2.
You can find the puddle pad directions on my previous post.

CTMH Supplies:
Cardstock: Moonstruck, Lagoon, Pear, Topiary
Stamps: Quick Card-Butterfly
Inkpad: Moonstruck
Re-inkers: Lagoon, Pear, Topiary
Embellishments: Seam Binding Ribbon, Bakers Twine, Sparkles
Coming Soon: directions to make the card box stand.

Color Dare #2

Playing Under the Sea with Analogous Colors
Analogous colors are 2 to 4 colors that sit next to each other on the color wheel.
In this case the colors for Dare # 2  at Color My Heart are Moonstruck, Lagoon, Pear, and Topiary.

These are happy cheerful colors of summer. This under the sea "Happy as a Clam" card is a pattern from Originals called "Lucky Three." I used the Puddle Pad technique for my stamped images. I did have a little situation when I went to get my re-inkers and omg... no Moonstruck. How could that be? I will have to order. In the mean time I used the Topiary, Lagoon, and Pear to ink the image and then rolled in my moonstruck ink pad.
Now it's your turn. Grab your Moonstruck, Lagoon, Pear, and Topiary and create a fresh happy creation to share at Color My Heart for Dare #2.

CTMH Supplies:
B&T Duos: Footloose
Cardstock: White Daisy, Moonstruck, Pear
Ink: Moonstruck, Lagoon, Pear, Topiary
Stamps: Stamp set from Footloose WOTG, Kick Back
Embellishments: Blue Sparkles
Other: ribbon from stash
Pattern: "Lucky Three" from Originals
